Day 1
Read Books:

Letters (and rhymes) - C, G, O
C - curve around
G - curve and a dash
O - big curve and close
 Start by creating the characters using play dough snake

G-  Use glitter glue or spread glue over the letters and sprinkle with glitter.
O-  Paint or color with the color orange.
 Math - Opposites - Liquid & Solids (make object lesson)
 - Water and ice
 - While making meals, have your child assist and discuss the liquids and solids that go into recipes.
 Celery Science - Cut celery so the veins are open & cups of water with food coloring added; place the celery stalk into the water.  Check daily to see if the celery is drinking up the water and the veins are becoming that color.

 Play-   Play Go Fish - use various numbers or letters

Information-   Dial 911
- Children need to know how to get a hold of the police department, fire department, and hospital in case of an emergency.  Now that the child can recite their phone number and address, the child is ready to practice this.  Have the child dial a play phone and tell the "dispatcher" their names, the emergency, and the address of their home.  This is also the time to discuss what denotes an emergency and that 911 is never to be called for any other reason that a true emergency.
- This is a good time to have a practice fire drill with your family.  Discuss a meeting place outside the home.

Art- Macaroni star
Macaroni Star - Place a few macaroni noodles in a zip-top plastic bag.  Add 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 4-5 drops of food coloring.  Mix to distribute the color.  Dye more macaroni in separate bags.  Open the top of the bag and let dry.  Using the Star Template, place a thin layer of glue on the paper.  Add the colored macaroni to create a colorful macaroni star.
Play-   Read- Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

What you need:  Red and green construction paper - cut into 1”x8” strips to make 12 and 13 strips of each color (totalling 25 strips), glue, a marker, scissors
What to do:  Write the numbers 1-25 on the strips, alternating colors between numbers
Link the colors together to form a chain using the glue.
Tear off a link each day (starting with the highest number).
Each day, count the links that are left.

Trace and cut out the child's left hand on green paper, right hand on red paper.  Place the green hand to the left of the page where you are going to write and the red hand to the right. Teach your child to always start at the left (green hand – go), and stop at the right (red hand – stop).  
Read numbers on an alarm clock.  Place green hand and red hand on sides of an electric clock. 
- Have your child help hold the green hand on left side or red hand on the right side of a book as you read.  Point to the words as you read.
- Tie a red ribbon around the right hand to help the child remember (red=right).
Focus on left and right throughout the week – reading left to right, how a computer types left to right across the page, etc.

Gross Motor Skills Activity
Have your child stand opposite you with about seven feet separating you.  Before throwing a large soft ball or beach ball toward your child, say "right", "left", or "both".  Depending on what you say, have the child bat the ball away with that hand(s).  This requires another level of thinking.  At first, have your child show you which hand(s) they will use.  As he/she improves, give less time before the ball is thrown.
